COVID-19 vaccination practice update

Merewether Family Practice is pleased to advise that we are an approved vaccination provider for the COVID-19 vaccines. We are happy to help provide COVID-19 immunisation for our local area and wider community.

Checking when you can receive your COVID-19 vaccine

To find out when you are eligible to receive the vaccine, visit https://covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/eligibility and complete the COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Checker. This will tell you which phase of the rollout you are in.

Booking your COVID-19 vaccination appointment

When it is your turn to get vaccinated, you can book via our website online (our preferred method) to get your first and second doses of the vaccine. You can also call us on 4963 3921 to book your appointments or come in to the clinic. Make sure you book an appointment for your first and second doses of the vaccine. Please call us if you need to confirm what the timing should be between the appointments.

Getting ready for your appointment

Please do not come to your vaccination appointment:

  • if you are feeling unwell with fever, cough, runny nose or other symptoms that could be from COVID-19
  • if you are waiting for COVID-19 test results, or have tested positive for COVID-19
  • if you are a close contact of someone with COVID-19, or
  • if you are in quarantine.

If you have had another vaccine in the 14 days before your COVID-19 vaccine appointment, please let us know as we may need to reschedule your appointment.

If you cannot make it to your vaccination appointment, please contact us to arrange a new appointment.

Practice closure Thursday 20/8/20

Merewether Family Practice will be closed on Thursday 20th August 2020, due to water works in the area. As we will have no water for most of the day, for the safety of our patients and our staff, we have made the difficult decision to close for the day.

Dr Chris Marley and Dr Pedita Hall are rostered on for the day and will be providing telehealth consultations remotely.

Technical issues update Thursday 24/10/19

Our recent technical issues are being resolved, with appointments and bookings available again. We expect minor disruptions to services over the next few weeks as some bookings in our system were lost. If you had an appointment booked, please attend at your booked time and allow additional time.

We have adjusted our appointment schedules to allow for disruptions as appointments may have been double booked in the process.

Reduced services due to technical issues Tuesday 22/10/2019 and Wednesday 23/10

UPDATE 1630 Wednesday 23/10/19 – The practice expects to have appointment systems back up and running Thursday morning. If you have been waiting to make an appointment, please call later in the day to book in or reschedule any disrupted appointments. Otherwise we look forward to seeing you at your booked appointment time.

The practice has technical issues and can not access patient files or our booking system at the practice or online. For urgent medical care please see your local or after hours services.

Appointments will be rebooked as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and will let patients know as soon as possible when our systems are functioning again.

SMS Appointment reminders and online bookings

Book Appointment

Merewether Family Practice have introduced SMS appointment reminders and online appointments through HotDoc! HotDoc has been used successfully by many practices, with excellent reviews to date. It offers a range of features, which we will gradually open up.

BOOKINGS

Bookings can be made 24/7 directly through the green “Book Appointment” button at the top of the page. This will take you to the booking software which links securely with our appointment book.

Alternatively, appointments can be made through the HotDoc app on a mobile device, or their website.

Bookings can be made for common appointment types so far, and will be gradually rolled out to other services and doctors.

And yes, you still have the option to call and speak to our reception staff in working hours!

SMS APPOINTMENT REMINDERS

Appointment reminders will now be sent as a routine, usually about 24 hours prior to your appointment, or on the Friday for a Monday appointment. If you book in the morning, you will receive a reminder if the appointment is later that day.

If you can’t make your appointment, you have the option to cancel the appointment, freeing up the time for someone else, and to rebook straight away. If you’re able to make your appointment please answer “Yes” so we know to expect you!

If you don’t have a mobile phone, you can elect to have reminders sent by email.

If neither we appreciate that the service is not for everyone! We will still expect you at your appointment time, and you may call our staff if you need to change your booking.

On Wednesday 2 January 2019 we will return to normal opening hours.

The car park is now open again! Thank you for your patience as the carpark was closed for a few days.

The carpark next to our building will be closed for approximately a week from Thursday 12th July 2018 for maintenance work. We will post an update when it is open again!

We recommend allowing extra time to find a car park before your appointment, or if too difficult to access, please call our staff to rebook.

2018 Queen’s Birthday long weekend Saturday clinic

Merewether Family Practice will be open for Saturday clinic as usual on the Queen’s birthday weekend, 9-11 June 2018.

Saturday clinics are for urgent care only, and operate from 0830 to 1100.  Routine appointments, injections and influenza vaccines are not available at this clinic.  Patients are seen on a first come first serve basis.
